JOB STATEMENT
Formulates and delivers the optimal logistical solutions for our clients by organizing the movement of freight in the most cost-effective and reliable manner possible.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Negotiates rates with carriers which achieve acceptable margins as established by Kelron management.
2. Provides and supports all service requirements and needs of all assigned Kelron Clients exactly to or higher than their expectations.
3. Ensures all Kelron carriers are communicated with professionally and to the level expected by Kelron management
4. Reviews all trip sheets prior to sending to carriers to ensure all customer and Kelron's expectations are noted
5. Ensures all carriers have received, signed and faxed back trip sheets and all related requirements
6. Ensures any potential service issues are addressed promptly with the assigned carrier.
7. Ensures Kelron's quality on time performance levels are met or exceeded.
8. Ensures all relevant carrier information is entered into all appropriate Kelron applications.
9. Problem-solve carrier specific issues from the point of booking through to completion.
10. Collaborates and offers assistance to other team members in delivering optimal transportation service solutions.
11. Resolves any service failures and communicates them with the Team Supervisor.
12. Ensures all necessary information for each order is communicated effectively to all team members through clipboard notes and verbal communication.
13. Ensures all Kelron carriers have the necessary documentation to move loads for Kelron (insurance, running authorities, and ICC permits, WCB).
14. Ensures all trip sheets are accurate and faxed to the carrier in a timely manner. Ensures all information relating to the customers specialized requirements are communicated clearly on the Trip Sheet.
15. Researches pricing for new and existing clients.
16. Solicits carrier referral business from all existing carriers.
17. Ensures appropriate supervisor approves any extra charges payable to a carrier.
18. Performs related duties as assigned by Operations and General Manager.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
A high level of mental alertness and urgency is required for this position. Resourcefulness and tenacity are also valid indicators of effective performance. The ability to effectively negotiate and present issues in a clear concise manner is required. Must be able to work effectively with teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are required on a daily basis. Must be able to operate efficiently in a Windows environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Any transportation experience or post-secondary education related to the transportation industry would be an asset. Negotiation training is an asset for this position.
